Samsung Planning To Launch New Wearables Alongside The New Galaxy S

Galaxy

Wearables are apparently the ‘Next Big Thing’, and Samsung has had more than a fair share to do with this rising trend. 2013 was a big year for wearables, as we saw devices like Samsung’s own Galaxy Gear Smartwatch get it’s release, Google Glass found its way onto the faces of ‘Explorers’, and other smartwatches like the Pebble and the Martian Passport launched as well. It has barely been over a week since the start of the new year, and CES is in Day 3 and already were starting to see a myriad of wearables that are to be launched this year, making 2014 an even bigger year for the wearable pieces of smart tech than the last.

Among devices like CONNECTEDEVICE’s Cogito and Cogito Pop, we’ve seen something new from the Pebble lineup like the Pebble Steel, we saw plenty of wristbands at the event so far including the LG Lifeband Touch, the Razer Nabu, and Sony’s SmartWear. That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to wearable tech, and with a such a huge boom in their popularity (which Samsung more than likely was predicting) Samsung wants to make sure that getting some action too. They’ll definitely attempt to be near the head of the pack, and they stand a good chance of being the most successful with their current brand image and popularity. While Samsungs original Galaxy Gear is definitely in need of some improvements, it was still a groundbreaking (or at least very well marketed) device and Samsung aims to do it even bigger this year with their new wearable devices.

In a report from re/code, they had a chance to talk to Samsung’s Head of Studio For Design America, Dennis Miloseski, about what they have planned for their upcoming introductions in this market. Miloseski stated that they were planning to launch some new wearable devices around their Flagship devices this year, and then went on to further say that they typically have two major flagship launches, (which most of us already knew) The Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note. Miloseski was quoted saying that “2014 is going to be a really big year” for Samsung, and its shaping up to be a big year indeed. Did any of you enjoy the original Galaxy Gear? What would you like to see updated or added into its next iteration? Are you hoping to see a “wristband” type fitness tracker from Samsung this year? Let us know what you think in the comments.
